Mom and dad live with my husband and I and our 3 teenage children.  Mom has Alzheimer's and I believe is either in the late stages or approaching that stage rapidly.  We have all managed to accept these new responsibilities remarkably well.  Dad and I work together in caring for mom.  She has recently become so aggressive and is refusing to do anything that we ask her to do.  She refused to take her medicine, use the toilet, drink a glass of water, allow us to change her clothes, etc.  At this point dad has just about had all that he can take.  I am doing much better than he in coping.  Dad is considering utilizing adult day services.  If anyone has had any experience with this, positive or negative, I would like to hear from you.

Thank you!

Hello I am from Cleveland Oh, and my Father is 65 yrs young with Dementia he has had it since 2001 from a head injury. My Father made the decision that he could no longer live on his own and wanted to stay with another relative due to me doing child care from my  home and having two teenage girls. This is a very hard transition it requires a lot of love and patience. My Father is now enrolled into adult daycare 5 days a week they pick him up and drop him off, it is the best thing for me, however I need help in the evening because I don't  have time to wind down from the toddlers that I have all day.  I hope that you can find peace in having both of them in an adult day care program.

I am a husband whose wife has FTD. I had my hands full because she also had several medical problems  added on to of the Dememtia. Becasue of her illness, she could never tell me that she didn't feel good or was hurting. About a year ago, I started her in a day care program. Because of the cost, I could only keep her in two days to start, then increased it to one more day. Over the year, her health has improved  greatly. Her vital signs have improved, and her attitude has improved. I believe it was because of the day care where she gets two full meals, exercise, works with crafts, plays Bingo and does trivia and more. Her FTD is still there and she still has emotional out bursts, but she is much calmer now. It now gives me three days of peace.
