I cannot tell you how worried I am about my sister, she is bi-polar. She is on a lot of meds but the one I know about is the one that the drs give children with atdd. She stays up all night and sleeps until 6pm. This repeats everyday. I have tried in a gentle way to talk to her but I am afraid if I am to bold she will not share anything with me. She cannot keep this up the meds to speed her up all night then the meds that make her sleep all day. Please if anyone can give me advice please let me know I would be most thankful.

Hi Donna!

What a difficult situation for you. I understand feeling that if you push too much she will shut you out. I don't have any good answers for you, but others here might have some tips for you.

I know that her doctor cannot tell you anything but I wonder if you could still contact them and let them know what you have observed? Maybe then they can address it with her when she sees them next.

Let us know how you are doing.

Laurel-How sweet of you to respond to my post and your advice was on target, however her husband did that 6yrs ago and she about died. The Dr took her off all her meds "cold Turkey" she was so sick from withdrawal she was seeing things in short you could say loosing her mind. She ended up in a mental hospital and received shock treatments. She finally made it back home and when she got able she went "Dr. shopping" then it gradually started all over again. Now we are reluctant to call the Dr.because of the last time whenher husband did this she came really cose to taking her life. I am so lost except for my prayers for her and gentle talks with her I tread lightly with her and I can tell by the tone of her voice if I have gone to far I want her to remain really close to me so I stand a chance of helping her. Thanks again for replying to me if you or anyone can think of anything please let me know. My eyes fill with tears just thinking of loosing her.
