An estimated 16 million Americans have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD) -- a group of lung diseases that can interfere with normal breathing -- and another 14 million are undiagnosed or developing it. This progressive lung disease is caused by damage to the lungs, usually from smoking. COPD causes shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing, and a buildup of mucus in the lungs.
