One dilema I've faced as a caregiver is trying to find a balance between actual caregiving tasks and simply spending time with my parents. I could spend a whole day running errands or taking care of other day-to-day tasks and still hear " I never see you ! "
I finally realized that even though I was spending a ton of time taking care of things for them, they actually weren't seeing me that much. What they'd really like is just some visiting time with ME. But still, the errands have to be done and along with my own family's needs (I have young kids), it leaves little time for social visits. I feel guilty about not spending more quality time with them.
How do you spend your caregiving time? Is it mostly spent like mine, dealing with day-to-day logistics? Or have you found a way to spend quality time with the ones you are caring for also? As for myself, I've been trying to do little things to combine the two needs- taking them along on errands or doing chores while visiting with them, for example.

And good for you for giving yourself a break. No one person can do it all and others need to know that.
