Hello and welcome to Caring.com's community.

I'm so sorry you and your dad are having to deal with this. We've had lung cancer in our family and it's a tough one!

While I don't have specific information for you, I wanted to link you to Caring's directory to local resources. Just plug in your dad's zipcode and you'll, hopefully, find several options.

My Dad was diagnosised with lung cancer Feb 07. He had the lower lob of his lung removed but had no chemo or radiation---the MD's said it was a stage 1 and they got it all. Then in May 08 the cancer was back with a rengence. Surgery is not an option. Radiation and chemo was the suggested TX. We did get a second oppinion which was confirmed. My concern is the amount of weight he has lost--50lbs in 6 weeks. Is the the norm? Also he is unable to swallow because of the radiation. He has gotten dehydrated on at least 4 times and had to get fluids. My problem is that he lives in Biloxi, Ms and I live in Atlanta, Ga. I am onl able to get down there about once a month due to family obligation at home ( I am raising my two grandsons and they are VERY ACTIVE boys). I do not think moving down there with the boys would be a good idea. How do I find Home Health care in his town? Thank you for any help or suggestions anyone might have.
