There could be a lot of different things going on. Cancer treatment takes a toll on the body, and your mom might be fatigued and weak, which could be making her seem "foggy." Plus there's "chemo brain," which is the popular name for the memory and concentration issues that can occur with chemotherapy. But it is also true that breast cancer can metastasize to the brain; common symptoms of this are headaches, vision problems, memory loss, seizures, and speech problems. If you suspect that your mom's cancer might be spreading to her brain, ask your mother's oncologist to perform some screening tests. Diagnostic tests such as MRIs, CAT scans, and PET scans can all be used to look for spots of cancer in the brain. Don't be afraid to be persistent if the doctor is not responsive to your concerns.

I'm sorry about the doctor being hard to talk to! Is there a cancer treatment facility near you that perhaps could offer you a different doctor that better fits your needs? Best of luck to you and your mom!

My mother has breast cancer and recently we found that it has spread to her spine. We found out because she had back pain -- so get this checked out if it happens to your mom! But she's also starting to seem foggy mentally, and I'm wondering if I should be concerned that it's gone to her brain, too. Anyone have breast cancer experience to share? I'm so worried and our doctor's hard to talk to!
