The Love of my life, had a severe right medial cerebral embolic stroke that affected his frontal/posterioparietal portion of his brain. He was forever different after the stroke. I stood by him for the 3 years that he survived the stroke. He passed away after open heart surgery, it was my honor, privilege, and duty to be with him when he passed away 5 days after surgery without regaining consciousness. Our best friend told me that 4 days before the surgery, she caught him looking at me like he used to before the stroke. I miss him so much, and I love his kids for keeping in touch with me - I am the 'step' mother - they were all grown by the time I met their father. At times, I wish he would come back to me, but then I remember that he is much better off where he is now - he's whole again.
