Candle Story for William Louis Fansler
Harriet made this candle.
I was a caregiver for Bill for the last four years, but I had known him for 30. He was born August 15, 1922 and died November 22, 2009. He was 87. He kept a positive attitude and his sense of humor until the very end. He was able to stay in his home until the last 8 weeks when his family moved him to a beautiful retirement community. He was only immobile for the last week.
Bill was a high school teacher and PE coach. He retired as the principle of a large urban school. In his retirement, his creative side came to light in his cartoon drawings and wood carvings of the most whimsical, colorfully-painted characters. He was always proud of his full head of hair, and he still had it all when he left this life. I miss him.
