Candle Story for My Mother Dorothy

MayGodBeTheGlory made this candle.

I just found out that my biological Mother has Dementia/Alzheimers. She had to be placed in an assisted living home. I visited my Mom in September, 2009, and it was certainly so hard to see her this way. To make a long story short, my Mother gave me up for adoption when I was 3 months old yet continued to visit me as my Aunt. What really upsets me the most about this disease is that it robs a person of their precious memories. My mother didn't even seem to know me. I think that hurt the most. Today I lite a candle for my Mother and thank God for blessing me with two Moms. For the Mom that gave birth(life) and the other Mom for raising me up to what I am today. For this I'm truly blessed. If I could have anything in this world at this moment, it wouldn't be money or riches, it would be to have my Mother back as I remember her. Today, I visited my Mom again, and she hugged me for the first time and held my face kissing me and saying, "You are so beautiful, I've been looking for you where have you been? Yet in the next breathe, she didn't seem to know who I was. I have chosen to became an advocate for Alzheimer's. I am determined to find out more about this dreadful devastating disease which could have anyone's name on it. Come out and join us as we walk in support of all those affected. Alzheimer's Memory Walk in Atlantic City on October 4th,2009 at the Kennedy Plaza on the boardwalk (Register:9:30a and the Walk starts @ 11:00am with hopes of finding a cure.
