Candle Story for Mom

My Mom is beginning to show the signs of dementia and she needs more oversight than ever. Keeping Mom in her own home has been a challenge, but we feel at this time it is the 'right thing to do.' This situation could change overnight should Mom fall or have a medical emergency. She enjoys her home, as well she should, but her fragility becomes more obvious each visit and we do not know at what point we begin the talk of 'assisted living.' It isn't something I am eager to discuss with my sibling, but there are signs that Mom's safety could be at greater risk. I want Mom to be as independent as possible and I'm praying that her dementia slows down with the help of medication. My dream is to spend more time with my Mom in the months ahead. With my pending retirement at the end of the year, that should provide some precious time to share with my Mom and record some stories she has shared since my childhood. She has seen many things in her lifetime and she appreciates God's many blessings. I pray that she may continue to be an inspiration to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
