"My mom is recovering from back surgery and spends most of her time in bed, which gets boring. There's a nice window she can look out, so we placed large blocks under her bed to raise it to the right height, and then bought some bird feeders that affix to the window by suction cup. She enjoys a daily parade of warblers, cardinals, sparrows, and meadowlarks. She watches for hours!"

Birdfeeders have been a huge source of entertainment for my mother. She is very far along in her Alzheimer's and shows no interest in anything really, but she is quite content looking out her window at the feeders. Be sure to keep them filled! And I don't know where your mother is, but here we use the woodpecker fruit-and-nut mix because it attracts many more colorful birds than the standard mix that attracts mostly house finches and swarms of scary starlings that eat and run and look like a scene from "The Birds."
