"One night when my grandmother was having a difficult time going to sleep, I asked her to sing me a song she sang when I was a child. I acted like I didn't know all the words, and before long she filled in the blanks. Now, we've moved on to show tunes. I've downloaded a few on my smart phone, and we belt out 'New York, New York' with Liza Minnelli and 'Wouldn't It Be Loverly' from My Fair Lady. It's a blast!"

My sister would do the 'Hokey Pokey' with dad every night, as a fun way that helped get him out of his recliner, into the wheelchair, then into bed. Even after he became totally bedridden, she continued this fun routine with him. It would provide a distraction for him, as we changed him and/or his bedding, or when he would become agitated. We could also entertain and distract him with playing songs on the piano for him to sing along with. At the end, we couldn't understand anything he said, unless he was singing. Great ideas, and music is fun for everyone!
What a GREAT idea... I love it!!! I think it is also a good idea to quote scripture from memory, or pray together.
