Thanks Paula! Was feeling very depressed because Mom was in a deeper depression but now realize I must choose happiness and try to make it trickle down to her. Almost had a breakdown myself last week and my daughter who lives down south heard the desperation in my voice and got my son to Grandma sit so I could go out to dinner. It made a big difference and Mom didn't even know I was gone so I am striving to get away more for my own well-being. Good luck all!
Thanks, it is so nice to be reminded that what we do is a good thing. We lose sight of that so often. I am thankful to the Lord for the strength and ability to endure but must again thank you for the sight that lifts so many and brings those in the same situation together to help each other. God bless you. : )
THanks for this article. So true.
Thank you so much for your point about control issues and focusing on the good things about being in a position to try and help someone. I have been a caregiver for a schizophrenic mother since I was old enough to understand. Now I am trying to help my mother in law with MCI and she is resistant to help for a variety of reasons. I found your advice right on for my needs.
Prayers stillgrowing
This is really a nice post Paula, I liked the ruts in your mind point. That is dead on. Small changes can feel like big changes. I work on and eldercare/aging in place blog and we often discuss caregiver stress. Thanks for the new ideas. Bill, http://www.rightathome.net/seniorhomecare
