I just read this - a little late after the posting, but still wanted to comment. My mother takes 7 prescriptions. 5 are generic, 2 are brand name (Aricept and Avandia). Each year due to changes in Part D I have had to change her Part D plan to find the best. Each year it is the same. After one filling and half of the second 90 day mail in supply she goes into the donut hole. This is because the provider puts WHAT THEY PAY for the drug towards the donut hole count. And guess what, that amount is higher than if I bought the 90 day supply generic at Walmart for $10. So only 4 months into the plan she is forced to pay over $1,200 for the rest of the year each 90 days refill, plus still pay the insurance premium. What a deal!
I pulled her am dropping her from Medicare Part D, buying the generic and other two drugs from WalMart, which in the end is cheaper. Can you believe that. Who thinks Medicare Part D works?
