You can also search for Geriatric Care Managers in your area through our Senior Living Directory by entering your city, state or zip code at www.caring.com/local/geriatric-care-managers Through are ratings and reviews program, you may also rate and review the GCM (or any other care providers you've had experience with) for other caregivers who are in a similar situation as you. If you so feel inclined to leave a review, you may do so at http://www.caring.com/review_submissions/new?utm_source=community

I agree with Carole. It worth it. Hire a geriatric care manager and try to spend all the time you can when you visit with your loved one. Sometimes it takes time for them to understand you are there. Maybe they don´t recognize you but they know you are a special visit if you give them time. Get to know well the place if she is in a nursing home. Well I mean, talk to everybody you can, from the administrator to the gardener. Of course, special attention to aids and nurses. Make them know who you are, how much you care. I live in Florida and travel every month to Ohio. It has been hard work but Mom is doing much better.

Hire a geriatric care manager to be "you on site". they are professionals who know who is good and who is not in the local area. They save long distance caregivers time, money and stress! Find them at www.caremanager.org
