I have to apologize for spelling mistakes its not me but this keyboard!!!!! I am going to say that at 73..am told I look 53 but i don't let that fool me. I really think all of us who live alone need the alert button for help.I know how hard that is to admit . but I am not sure That even young people who live alone might benefit from the service.. It does wonders for your the scare part of our personalities.Thats a benefit all by itsself. I am seriously thinking of getting the help button, I also think a pet does wonders for older people ..Mine does!!

Thanks for the internet and caring.com as well. Good health is important to everyone. May God implant the wisdom for all of us to live longer and enjoy life.
I just turned 60, I smoke, but I'm a cook, so I eat healthy most of the time. I love fresh fruit and veggies. I know the smoking needs to go, but its hard. VERY HARD! I take no medications (thank God), but I don't want to take any. I have no medical ins. or medical issues. I like reading your articles so I'll know what to do, what to eat, and how to take care of myself. Their very informative.
My fiance died at 36. He was very strong.. but likes to eat junk food and soft drinks. He is medium size.. not fat., is medium active. It was just a minutes that I found him in the bathroom. No serious signs or anything.
Could you mention the nationalities who have a high risk of stroke? - studies of their normal food diet? - You must make this article as serious as possible as some take it for granted and thinks this is just some article about beauty tips... my fiance died a couple of months ago.. and it is only now that I came tor realize how serious these tips are.. if only... I was able to sink in more of this tips and took it really seriously.. you know what I mean?
All information.
I am learning a lot.. thank you so much
THANKS
thank you so so much for this very helpful article...be reading more of this starting today :D
The foods that are listed in this article is an eye opener.
Hi kathrynd, Thank you very much for your comments. If you'd like, you can post your questions in our Ask & Answer section, here: ( http://www.caring.com/ask ). I hope that helps. Take care -- Emily | Community Manager
besides aspirin what else is available to take while having a stroke? i have aspirin-sensitive asthma. 2 family members have had strokes, didn't die, have high blood pressure, one died from old age and the other is still living.
what foods are good for getting a stroke victim to eat 15 years after a stroke? she like to eat a lot of processed food, ice cream, foods that she shouldn't be eating. along with her son, i fix foods that are good to eat without the salt. it's amazing how good food tastes without salt, i have been doing this for over 20 years and adjusted to it easily.
Also watch for foaming saliva, watched my grandmother have a stroke in front of me when I was 9, and this was a symptom I remember.
very helpful as a reminder to everybody
I can't think of a thing. It was very helpful.
my brother had a stroke and I was there with him, he asked for Asprin, he took 2 and when the paramedics got there they said that his the best thing to do. It helps with the blood pressure. He is lucky to be alive. If someone is having a stroke DO NOT WAIT call 911 right away time is the key to saving them. Hope this helps
Nothing it was very informative
Father died of a stroke at age 69 in 1979 and this past week, July 7th, my brother, age 73 died of a stroke and went into a coma several weeks later, a massive stroke. I must be next. I just turned 72 last Friday, June 24th.
Prayers vw0lf
Hi care.com, Thank you very much for you comment. Unfortunately, we are unable to diagnose medical problems for our site members. I was driving my son to school all of a sudden my right hand became very cold and I felt numbness in the left side of my nose and hand, but my face or my mouth did not drop and was not confused or anything. I get this feeling all the time and I go to the doctor they can't tell. Is is means that I am having a stroke?
Hi antaki, Interesting question. I'm not sure if there are any oral medications you can take before reaching the emergency room, but you can ask your question in our Ask & Answer section located here: (http://www.caring.com/ask). Thanks for your comment! -- Emily
require to know what kind of oral medication you need to take when you have a stroke before reaching emergency. Since we live around an hours away from town where hospital and emergency is available. Thank you.
thanks for your information,,,
My wife is being treated for stroke. If I find her having another stroke what immediate action I should take till experts arrive.
@estm, Thanks for your question. The article says "If you notice one or more of the following stroke signs, call 911 right away," as not all of these signs happen with every stroke and with strokes it's important to get treatment right away. I hope that helps to answer your question! @antaki Thanks for your question too! The reason the article doesn't tell you how to administer the drugs, is because you should call 911 and let professional medical personel handle the treatment. Thanks again for your questions -- Emily
The dilemma lies in what your judgment call should be if the individual is only having two of the five items. Do you call 911? Let it go and see your doctor the next day? Someone I know had two of the five (vision and balance problem) and went to the doctor who sent him to a vision specialist and they all declared him fine. A few weeks later he had all #1-4 and it was declared a TIA. Anyone else out there with a similar experience? What should one do in a s
Caring.Com has very good articles on heart issued in general. The only comment is that they do not explain what happens if the person next to you does not know how to inject into the vein. What other means are available?
Signs of a Stroke are many and also many causes are included. A sign is, sudden numbness or the weakness of the face, arm, or leg and especially on the one side of the body. You may notice that the stroke victim’s mouth suddenly looks uneven. Ask him to smile and see if one side is crying. Have him close his eyes and raise both arms to see if one of them down. http://www.thebrainhealth.com/
Although at times it might be difficult to recognize a person who is undergoing a stroke (because their facial expression just seem confused or lost), once a bystander recognize that some one might be having an attack. There are steps a bystander can take in order to identify and act on a person having a stroke.
mom fell clumsily and is having trouble with her handwriting and is super _itchy wont go to a dr. hasnt for 45 yrs goes ballistic when i mention it. Nasty. says she needs a choropractic treatment and will be fine . dad was a chiro. dad died of brain ca and so did brother this past march. what to do?
Not a comment but a question: Am I increasing the risk of a heart by having orgasims? I have lost all my sex partners but I still masterbate when I get the urge . I am 86 years old and still and I am being treated for high blood pressure and mild dizzy spells. Thank you for reading this and I hope to get your opinion soon. Thank you ...Jim
My mother lives alone and this is a big fear of mine - something will happen and there's no one there to recognize she's having a stroke. Good list of things to watch for - now to commit them to memory!
