Although these bacteria are found in water and soil, they don't affect most people. Doctors think people with lung disease or immune system difficulties are more likely to come down with Non-Tuberculous Mycobacterial Disease. People who have taken medications to suppress their immune system and people with AIDS can develop an NTM infection.
