As a Registered Dietitian and one going through Menopause myself, I say NO to the soy, MOST DEFINITELY the "soy supplements". Current scientific studies are showing that all that soy increases your risk for cancer, especially breast cancer. Personally, I have known 2 women who used the soy menopause supplements and ended up with breast cancer. They warned me not to use soy, and then scientific research started coming out with these findings and trial results.

Im 44 and have been perimenopausal for 2 years, I have had success with organic Maca powder - it has eliminated my hot flushes and night sweats and I'm much less hormonal, hungry and I have much have more energy every day. I've had to cut down on alcohol and spicy foods but I've found apple cider vinegar great for flatulence and heart burn. No HRT for me! Weight loss however eludes me despite a very regular exercise regime.

If you work at home beans are a great source of fiber and non fat protein. Digestive enzymes help very much with gas and all of them are not the same. Some of us need more hydrocloric acid instead of "Tums" for acid reduction, in order to break down protien. Also, we so need green leafy vegetables if we are not on blood thinners. They are so good for us. So go and look for plant based digestive enzymes with some betaine hydrocloride if you think u need it.

You have some good info here, natural solutions do work very well and methodical testing of different foods, nutritional supplements, better diets, regular routines and workouts can help you balance your own hormones naturally and stay healthy during menopause.
One important thing to remember before trying out new foods or supplements
is to get an allergy test just to be safe.

Just a quick note--soy is a _bean_, and Beano starts getting expensive if you use it every day. Soy may be good, but some of us work in cubicles close to other people, if you get my drift and I think you do. Red clover capsules offer many of the benefits of soy, and don't cause gas. So when you recommend soy and recommend against beans, plesse be aware that soy can be a problem.
