The informaiton is helpful in letting you know the symptoms of a heart attack and a stroke. Also, it is great to know the different things that can occur in women having a heart attack tht are different from men having one. I have taken two CPR classes, but it is alway good to educate the public about what steps they can take until help arrives.

I have had two heart attacks, but have never had pain any where other than I get nauseated and my head starts hurting, not a stress headache but a full blown Migraine both times.
That's how I know something is really wrong. A friend of mine was feeling tired as she put it worn out. She went to the Dr. to get something to help her get her energy back. Her daughter called me from the hospital. Her Mom went into surgery for her heart. She had a heart attack waiting in the Dr.'s office waiting room. You never know which sign will be yours just report any unusual feelings you are experiencing you never know. Some don't want to go to the Dr. or hospital because they are afraid of looking silly if they aren't having a heart attack. Thing is it's better to look or feel silly than DEAD.

Even though my health seems very good, my vital signs are good, and I get very good exercise daily, I come from a family with heart problem history, so I know I'm on "the list." I have copied it and given it to my wife and forward to my family just as a precaution. Few of us admit to ordinary problems or low level concerns, BUT with a family history, I think it's wise to be aware, to get good exercise, to eat properly, and to be alert to the potential. Thanks for the alert and I am taking the opportunity to alert my family with your fine article.

One of the *most* important things to keep in mind is that the person who is or might be having the heart attack does not think of him or herself as at risk and may not even consider the possibility; he or she may even have gotten a clean bill of health during a recent checkup. However "healthy" one has been or *seems* to be is no indication of whether or not they are having a heart attack. Waste no time if you suspect someone is having a heart attack; seek professional medical attention.

As a heart attack survivor, I think you missed a significant point. You may have only about 1 hour to get help. I woke up at 5:00AM with severe pain in my upper right arm. I was certain it was a heart attack even though the symptoms were not classic.
We did not wait for 911, my wife drove me and I was in the emergency room being treated about 20 minutes. I had two clots in the LAD. Many people do not survive in this situation. Fortuntely, because of the quick treatment, two stents took care of my clots.
Six months later, I have completely recovered. and today am in better health and physical conditon than I have been in 10-15 years. I exercise vigorously at least 1 hour a day 6 days a week.
Time is absolutely critical in a heart attack. You don't have time to think about it or wait and see. Clot busting drugs can only be used for a short time. If we had waited, even for 20 minutes I doubt I would have survived. Fortunately, we did not.

I am totally agree with Brate Smith, May Women faces the heart attack, but the only difference between symptoms of heart attack in women, compared to men, was that women tend to delay seeking treatment, and are more likely to refuse to believe they were having a heart attack. Women also may be more likely to have pain in the throat, jaw and neck during a heart attack. According to cardiac nurse Martha Mackay"“Both the media and some patient educational materials frequently suggest that women experience symptoms of a heart attack very differently from men. These findings suggest that this is simply not the case. Clear educational messages crafted to ensure that both women and health care professionals realize the classic symptoms are equally common in men and women."

Although many people think of heart disease as a man's problem, women can and do get heart disease. I was in the same misconception regarding the heart disease, but was made aware by a medical checkup campaign. In fact, heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States. It is also a leading cause of disability among women.
The most common cause of heart disease is narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries, the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart itself. This is called coronary artery disease and happens slowly over time. It's the major reason people have heart attacks. Prevention is important: two-thirds of women who have a heart attack fail to make a full recovery.
The older a woman gets, the more likely she is to get heart disease. But women of all ages should be concerned about heart disease. All women can take steps to prevent it by practicing healthy lifestyle habits. Actually, right now I am suffering from a blockage in the coronary artery and was once blocked up to 85%. I got the stent implantation which is a mesh like spring which is used to broaden the artery and hence restoring back the blood flow. You can see further information regarding stent operation from www.heartsite.com/html/stent.html. I got to know everything regarding my stent operation from this site. I was really unaware of such a blockage. I sometimes feel dizzy, restless, lazy, but thought that to be something related to mental ability, and hence never worried about it. Once I got my basic medical checkup at Elite health medical office in New York (www.elitehealth.com/new_york_ny_medical_office.php). The ECG report went to be something suspicious. So, they advised me to have further advance diagnosis to determine and assure regarding the problem in the heart. After my MRI, CT scan and other such scans it came to me as a shock that I was facing a problem of blockage. It was quite surprising to me, and as I was not aware of anything regarding this, I was really frightened. The doctors explained me every information regarding my health and its treatment, and suggested me to have stent operation. That was some dreadful days of my life, which I faced only because I was careless about my health. It was my luck that I somehow went for a basic checkup at elite health, but every woman out there may not be so lucky.
