Lyrics
Fly, fly little wing
Fly beyond imagining
The softest cloud, the whitest dove
Upon the wind of heaven's love
Past the planets and the stars
Leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain
And fly again
Fly, fly precious one
Your endless journey has begun
Take your gentle happiness
Far too beautiful for this
Cross over to the other shore
There is peace forevermore
But hold this mem'ry bittersweet
Until we meet
Fly, fly do not fear
Don't waste a breath, don't shed a tear
Your heart is pure, your soul is free
Be on your way, don't wait for me
Above the universe you'll climb
On beyond the hands of time
The moon will rise, the sun will set
But I won't forget
Fly, fly little wing
Fly where only angels sing
Fly away, the time is right
Go now, find the light

We lost our 7 year old and had the song "Somewhere Out There" played as we exited the Church. It had a significance to us but people that didn't know that, thought it was a touching song for a child's funeral.
Best place I know of for poetry and blessings, is the Bible. Has been used for eons. . .
Hubs has ordered, for when the time comes, Daddy's Hands.(Secular, but fitting.) . .lol ! He means for his kids to boo hoo ! ! An absolute, do not use, is Tears in My Beer ~ used at a friend's dad's send off ! As you see by the pages and pages of suggestions. . . . personalize the service to the loved one's liking ~ and hopefully, you have had time to sort this out before hand.

Hi AllisonCS, Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, I don't know of any sites like that off the top of my head. However I'm sure you could find some great poems like that by doing a few google searches. Good luck!! -- Emily | Community Manager
Would like to know of a website that has memorial type poetry...to be used at funerals or memorials. Some uplifting...in gratitude for those we leave behind.
Is there a place to find appropriate memorial poetry of various "personalities" -- uplifting and grateful to those we leave behind?
It would be helpful to have a list of all titles before printing any lyrics --thanks!
Great thread - many of our families choose these songs and the ceremonies turn out beautifully. Another thing to consider is picking out specific poems/readings you'd like to have at your loved one's funeral. Our best advice is to try to match your selections with the personality of your loved one, so that he or she is properly remembered in a way true to his or her character.
