Applying Toothpaste
  • Instead of applying toothpaste to a toothbrush, it may be easier to squeeze it directly on the tongue.
  • Balance the toothbrush in the overflow hole of the sink and squeeze toothpaste onto the bristles.
  • Use an electric toothbrush. Most are flat on one side and allow the bristles to point up. Place your affected hand on the handle to stabilize it while applying toothpaste.
  • Flip-top lids and pump-style toothpaste containers may be easier to use.
Flossing
  • Use disposable flossing toothpicks. Available in the dental section of grocery or drug stores, they look like a miniature coping saw (a saw with a U-shaped frame) with a plastic handle. The "blade" is a piece of dental floss.
