I have carpal tunnel syndrome and neuropathyin my hands (also rheumatoid arthritis treated with methotrexate). I was unaware of how much damage the nerves can affect my muscles. Also, I was unaware of the treatments available to help the pain. Thank you for this article!

Hello elfie, Thank you very much for your question. The information in this article about neuropathy and chemotherapy also applicable to other types of cancers as well. If you have any further questions about your treatment, we recommend that you contact a doctor offline. Take care -- Emily | Community Manager

does chemo and neuropathy apply to other forms of cancer? I have Myeloma and although I'm not being treated yet (it's in the indolent or smoldering) Stage 1) drugs would be more destructive than helpful, but eventually I will have to have chemo.

I think that this information should be given to anyone making decisions about breast cancer treatment. I felt doctors mimimalized the side effects of various treatment options. several people I know, including me, have had breast cancer in the past two years. I refused followup treatment after investigating side effects. My three friends have all suffered severe side effects: one is a supervisor that is terribly confused, another has had terrible pain and the third has such bad neuropathy that she cannot use her hands. A woman I met having a mamogram is barely ablel to walk and had to give up her house. I am the only one who has been able to live a normal life. Any of these side effects would have made it impossible for me to work. Now if the cancer just does not come back.

The fact that the subject is mentioned. It is many times considered taboo to find out urself as it is seen as a criticising of medical docters. But it is not, contrary most MD´s appreciate patients to be actively involved in forming the best Tx.

During chemo and other drugs, my doctor had me increase my minerals as well as B-6. I found it to be helpful This additional information, would be very useful, if I ever have to undergo treatment again.

Enforced my opinion that all three events have a hand in my son's pain. A stroke 15 months ago that caused severe headaches (migraine level). radiation and chemotherapy for throat cancer this year. Thank you

I am actually suffering from all the aches and pains you are describing, had breast cancer and was operated March of this year, have been taking the chemo pill which has caused me so much misery and pain. To the extent that changing the pot full of hot oil from one place to another, fell from my hand and a wave of hot oil covered my arm and hand. The doctor has changed my chemo pill but the symptoms persists. Thank you for your article, it was God's sent.

I have another reason for Neuropathy, Chemical Poisioning! Really Pesticide Poisioning'I know this from my own problems. I also site a article in Reader's Digest mag.It is titled 'Poisioned into Parkensons' It is a very old article, but very relevent. I am very chemically sensitive due to all the years I groomed pets. I use a few supplements that have saved my life according to several Doctors. In fact doctors have been puzzeled as to why I am still alive, and can still walk. The supplements I use are:(1)Phosphatidyl Choline. This is a highly concentrated form of sow lecithin.Phos.Choline is needed for proper nerve transmission in the body & brain.Doctor OZ said "It staves off Parkinson's Disease & Dementia". (2)'Green Foods Corp.'Barley Grass Powder. This helps the body by pulling petro-chemicals out of the body.It also neutralizes the petro-chemicals before they can cause damage. It also acts as a internal sunscreen.By 'petrochemicals' I mean pesticides, car & truck fumes,Tar,& more!I recomend 'Green Foods Corp.' because they are the ones who have the Live enzymes needed to do those things.(Vitamin Shoppe is the best place to get both the Barley Grass & the Phos.Choline<their brand)(3) COQ10.I had a very irregular heart beat before I started using this.COQ10.COQ10 is used for energy production in cells.High levels are needed in the heart & eyes, really in every cell in the body!We all have high levels of COQ10 when young, but it declines greatly as we age.People who have ANY kind of heart problems should take between 300-600 mgs a day.Doctors overseas have been using COQ10 for heart patients for many years.I think everyone could benefit from using it.It can be quite pricey, I get it at Dollar General store. It is a very good product there.FYI,Go to 'TeaTreeWonders.com' to see what I wrote about how to make a safe, organic, insect repellent.& bug killer.Take Care.S.

It was good to know that there are remedies and ways to lessen the difficult symptoms of chemo induced neuropathy

This is very interesting about the extremes of heat and cold. For pain relief I found acupuncture and medical Qigong to be very helpful. Theoretically, if you master medical qigong - according to my teacher - it could be as effective as acupuncture. I am still learning! Here's a link that may be useful: http://www.qigongusa.org/us/medicalqigong.htm
